Acai
Our customers use acai because it combines strong marketing appeal with functional and nutritional benefits. Acai is rich in antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which allows companies to position products as “superfoods” associated with health, energy, and wellness. Its deep purple color also makes it visually appealing in products like smoothie bowls, beverages, and snacks, enhancing perceived quality. In addition, acai has a mild, slightly tart flavor that blends well with other fruits, making it versatile for product formulation. It is often processed into frozen pulp, powders, or concentrates, which improves shelf life and makes it easier to transport and use in large-scale production. Overall, acai NFC juice helps manufacturers create premium, health-focused products that align with consumer demand for natural and functional ingredients.

The Amazon’s Purple Gold
It is also known for its heart of palm. Açaí heart of palm comes from the inner core of the acai palm tree, the same tree that produces the berries. It is a tender, edible vegetable harvested from the young shoots of the palm and is known for its mild, slightly nutty flavor and crisp yet delicate texture. Unlike acai berries, which are dark and rich in antioxidants, heart of palm is pale in color and more similar to vegetables like artichokes or asparagus in taste and use. It is commonly used in salads, side dishes, and gourmet preparations. Traditionally, harvesting heart of palm required cutting down the tree, but more sustainable farming practices now allow for harvesting without killing the entire plant, especially with multi-stem varieties like palms.
Global Sourcing Through the Brothers International Network:
Acai palms thrive exclusively in the humid, tropical microclimates of the Amazon rainforest, primarily in northern Brazil. Because the fresh fruit consists of over 80% seed surrounded by a thin layer of edible pulp, commercial processing must take place immediately after wild harvesting along riverbanks to prevent rapid oxidation and fat rancidity.
Brothers International connects North American food and beverage manufacturers to audited origin processors located in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon (primarily in Pará state). By working directly with wild-harvest co-ops and state-of-the-art processing facilities equipped with flash-pasteurization and deep-freezing capabilities, Brothers International guarantees a continuous, ethically sourced, and fully traceable supply of premium acai ingredients.
Harvest Cycles & Continuous Supply Management:
In the Amazon Basin, the primary wild acai harvest follows the dry season, running from July through December, with peak yields occurring between August and November. A secondary, smaller harvest occurs during the rainy season from January through May.
Managing these seasonal harvest peaks and ocean freight routes from South America is a core strength of Brothers International. Our logistics and operations teams coordinate temperature-controlled maritime transport, USDA/FDA import clearances, C-TPAT supply chain security, and strategic cold-storage warehousing across North America. Whether your line requires frozen single-strength NFC juice, 14% solids heavy puree, or clarified juice concentrate, our global footprint ensures reliable year-round inventory.
Rigorous Quality Control, Traceability & Compliance:
Because acai contains delicate natural fatty acids, precise temperature control during processing, pasteurization, and storage is vital to prevent lipid oxidation and preserve its deep purple anthocyanin color. Every supplier within the Brothers International network undergoes a comprehensive auditing process to guarantee complete supply chain traceability, fair-trade harvesting practices, sustainable rainforest stewardship, and strict compliance with USDA, FDA, and international food safety standards.
Through our network, we deliver acai ingredients backed by complete technical documentation and top-tier industry certifications, including GFSI benchmarks (BRC, SQF, FSSC 22000), USDA Organic (NOP), Kosher, Fair Trade Certified™, Non-GMO, and Halal standards. Our quality assurance protocols include rigorous testing for microbial safety, heavy metals, pesticide residues, total solids percentage, fatty acid profiles, and anthocyanin color density.
